Celtx Announces Plugin With Adobe Premiere Pro
Celtx launches Screenplay Plugin to help editors automate post-production workflows
New integration Introduces script-driven post-production workflows within Adobe Premiere Pro
LAS VEGAS, April 2, 2025 – Celtx, which provides screenwriting software to seven million global users, today announced script integration with Adobe® Premiere® Pro. Adobe Premiere Pro users can now utilize Celtx script data to generate project frameworks and expedite rough assembly cuts directly within Premiere Pro. The Celtx Screenplay Plugin is aimed at helping video editors improve and automate their post-production workflows, and will be shown at the Backlight booth (#SL5006) at the 2025 NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 6-9.
“We have built the first direct integration between a screenwriting editor and a non-linear editor in collaboration with Adobe,” said Kathleen Barrett, Chief Executive Officer of Backlight. “Backlight and its brands are focused on modernizing content operations so our partners can unleash their full creative potential and transform their businesses. This integration between Celtx and Adobe Premiere Pro has been highly requested from video editors worldwide, and we’re eager to give them more ways to improve and enhance their workflows.”
Van Bedient, Director, Strategic Development and Partnerships, Digital Video and Audio from Adobe, said, "We’re thrilled about the Celtx Screenplay Plugin, which revitalizes editing by linking scripts directly to footage in Premiere Pro, empowering editors to work smarter and faster. This bidirectional integration automates script-based tasks, tracks changes seamlessly, and enables dialogue alignment allowing editors to jump to scenes instantly and refine edits effortlessly."
Integrating Celtx into Adobe Premiere Pro significantly enhances the editing workflow for video editors. This extension allows editors to instantly import Celtx screenplays into Premiere Pro, syncing them with project assets to create organized bin structures based on the script’s scenes and dialogue. Editors can then drive sequence assembly directly from the screenplay text, quickly locating and placing clips into the timeline with precision. This streamlines project organization, accelerates rough cuts, and keeps the narrative at the forefront, all within Adobe’s ecosystem—offering a seamless, script-driven editing experience that boosts productivity and collaboration.
“As the director of a boutique production company, efficiency is essential. The Celtx script data integration for Premiere Pro speeds up the entire post process by automatically organizing scenes into bins, and any changes made to the script during this phase will seamlessly update within Premiere Pro,” said Brandon Champ Robinson, director and founder, Imagination Upgraded, LLC. “This direct integration cuts down on prep time and allows my team to focus on the creative. Having the script natively accessible within Premiere Pro is a major time saver, especially for editors working on independent productions with tight budgets. This level of efficiency means we can put more resources into crafting a better film.”
A free seven-day trial of the Celtx Screenplay Plugin is being offered for new users at celtx.com/celtx-for-premiere-pro/. For more information about this integration, please visit Booth #SL5006 at The Las Vegas Convention Center, April 6-9, 2025.
